Picnic Area Rentals
Castaic Lake has both large and small
picnic areas available for rent. Map of picnic areas may be found at the
bottom of the page.
Large Picnic Areas
There are 4 large areas available for corporate or large groups. The four
areas, Hideaway, Overlook, Timberland, and Shady Acres, can accommodate
anywhere from 150 to 500 people. All four
areas come equipped with large shade trees and grass, as well as numerous
picnic tables and barbeques. In
addition, all four areas have coverings that provide shade. The areas are parking lot accessible, as well
as a short distance from the shoreline of the West Side Lagoon. Catering, moon bounces, dunk tanks, and music
are allowed, when approved by the Park Administration. Serving Alcoholic beverages is prohibited
unless requirements outlined by the County of Los Angeles are met. Group Picnic Areas are available on a first
come, first serve basis. However, all
four areas can be reserved. Reservation
information can be found below.
The most secluded of the four areas is The
Hideaway. The area will accommodate
up to 150 people, and is located at the north end of the West side Lagoon,
adjacent to Parking Lot 13. It has large
shade trees and rolling hills covered in grass.
This location makes it an ideal location to hold Weddings, Birthday
Parties, and Corporate Events that require privacy.
No Picture Currently Available
The Timberland picnic area is the
closest to the swim beaches. It has a
large, plastic constructed play area and restroom building close by, making it
perfect for groups with children. It is
able to accommodate up to 150 people, and it located next to both parking lots
6 and 7. All of the picnic tables in
this area are covered with a slatted, wooden cover, and the area has several
barbeques as well.

The Overlook picnic area has the
best view of the Lagoon. It is situated
on the top of a small plateau that overlooks Paradise Cove and

The Shady Acres Picnic Area is the
largest reservable area. Located in the heart of the park, Shady Acres
offers enough room for up to 500 people and their picnic games. Surrounded by several picnic shelters, the
grass area is the perfect setting for a corporate picnic, or large family
gathering.

Reservation Requirements for Large Picnic Areas
All four of the Picnic areas can be
reserved. Reservations are taken up to 6
months in advance. A certificate and
endorsement page for $2,000,000.00 general liability insurance, naming Los
Angeles County, and the State of California must be obtained, with a copy sent
to the Administration office for our files.
Insurance policies can be obtained through the County of Los Angeles
Special event Liability Insurance Program.
Rates will vary according to the number of participants and the types of
activities. Rental pricing is as
follows: $175.00 for The Hideaway and Timberland, $275.00 for The Overlook, and
$375.00 for Shady Acre, as well as a required, refundable Security Deposit of
$100 minimum. Also, please remember that
regular vehicle and boat fees will apply.

There are 7 small picnic areas available
for families or small groups. The seven areas, Heron’s Haven, Whistling Pines,
Squirrel Hollow, Ducks Delight, Lakeview, Oak Rest and Angels Retreat can
accommodate from 50 to 75 people. All
areas come equipped with picnic tables and barbeques. In addition, most areas have coverings that
provide shade. The areas are parking lot
accessible, as well as a short distance from the shoreline of the West Side
Lagoon. Catering, moon bounces, dunk
tanks, and music are allowed, when approved by the Park Administration. Serving Alcoholic beverages is prohibited
