2010 Float Tube Derby

Dateline:  April 10th, 2010 Castaic Lagoon (Scroll Down Past Story, for Pictures)

A group of 31 tubers gathered on this morning under gray skies and cool temperatures. Conditions became breezy as the day wore on and the mercury began to drop. Things warmed up and the wind stopped, of course, as the 12:25 weigh in time approached.

Finishing 1st on this day was Chris Scott with a fine five fish limit weighing 19lbs, led by the event big fish of 6.70lbs. For his efforts not only did Chris receive the 1st place overall plaque and 1st place big fish plaque, he also received $155 in big fish money, as well as merchandise and the awesome top prize of a brand new Shimano Rod valued at $220! Thanks so much to Wayne at Pro Tackle Solutions for donating this great prize. Great job Chris on your huge win!

Taking second on this day was perennial contender Jim McElfresh with a limit totaling 13.9lbs. Jim received the great 2nd place plaque as well as merchandise and a gift certificate from Taylor Tackle. Great job Jim, hope to see both you and your brother Dale in June at our next event!

Garnering 3rd place was Daniel Palmer with four fish weighing 13.5lbs. Included in his total was the 2nd big fish of 6.30lbs. Daniel received some great prizes and a gift Certificate from J&T Tackle, along with two great plaques, and $93 in big fish money. Awesome job Daniel!

Taking 4th place was Paul Smith with a limit going 11.8lbs. Paul received the Great 4th place plaque along with merchandise and a gift certificate from J&T tackle. Great job Paul!

Getting 5th place was event regular Brian Weiman with four fish weighing in at 10.8lbs. Brian received a great prize package and the 5th place plaque. Great job Brian!

Worthy of mention was the 6.10 3rd big fish caught by Jessie Iannacone. This gave Jessie $62 in big fish money as well as the 3rd place big fish plaque. Excellent catch Jessie!

In the post tournament raffle, a gift certificate was given out for a free trolling Motor prop from the Trolling Motor Dr. Also given away was a gift certificate for 40% Off a Dobyns Rod. Everyone in the derby also received merchandise from Roboworm, Team Davies Tackle company, and a cash card for $50 off a Kistler Rod.

In addition, a great post tournament chili dog feast was provided by Pete and Julie Carrisosa and Carl Haddox of the FOCL. Great job guys!
