Host a Special Event
(including Group Camping)
The Department of Parks and Recreation offers county wide recreational opportunities at 119 diverse locations, including parks, equestrian trails and golf courses. Many of these sites are available for corporate functions, film locations, weddings and other special events. Many groups use both the upper and lower lake areas for filming, fishing tournaments, triathlons, and other events. For groups that plan on over-night camping, Castaic Lake also offers three areas that are available to NON-PROFIT organizations.
The special event areas accommodate anywhere from 150 to 500 people at the large locations, and 50 to 75 people in the small locations. There are 4 large areas and 7 small picnic areas available for families or small groups. Most sites contain shade providing awnings & trees, grass, picnic tables and barbeques. Also, most sites are parking lot accessible, as well as a short distance from the shoreline of the West Side Lagoon. Catering, moon bounces, dunk tanks, and music are allowed, when approved by the Park Administration. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited unless requirements outlined by the County of Los Angeles are met.
Fishing Tournaments
Castaic Lake is a popular spot for fishing tournaments, with several national tournament chains visiting the lake on a common basis. Tournament rules, in accordance with fishing and boating rules, must be followed.
Special Event Checklist
- A large or small area should be picked out.
- A reservation must be made before the event.
- Under certain circumstances, Insurance for the event must be acquired.
- All special event fees must be paid before the event.
- If necessary, secure a fire permit before the event.
- All other appropriate rules and regulations apply.
Large Area Rentals
7 Acres
Located on the upper lake, the largest site is "7 acres", which accommodates up to 300 campers and 100 to 120 tents. It comes equipped with 15 barbeques and 20 picnic tables, security lighting, 4 drinking fountains, 1 large fire pit, 39 parking spaces, 7 double spaces, and restrooms with running water (No showers or RV hookups).

3 Acres
Accommodates up to 150 campers and approximately 50 to 60 tents. Equipped with 9 barbeques, 8 picnic tables, security lighting, 4 drinking fountains, 1 large fire pit, 52 parking spaces, 11 double spaces, and restrooms with running water (No showers or RV hookups).
RENTAL COST: 25.00 + 1.00 per person OR 50.00; whichever is greater.**
Hideaway
Named for its natural seclusion, the area will accommodate up to 150 people, and is located at the north end of the West side Lagoon, adjacent to Parking Lot 13, which has approximately 60 parking spots. It has large shade trees and rolling hills covered in grass. This location makes an ideal location to hold weddings, birthday parties, and corporate events that require privacy. It can accommodate up to 100 campers and approximately 40 to 50 tents. Equipped with 3 barbeques, 8 picnic tables, 2 drinking fountains and 2 fire pits. (No showers or RV hookups).

Overlook
The Overlook picnic area has the best view of the Lagoon. It is situated on the top of a small plateau that overlooks Paradise Cove and Hobie Beach. The area has three groupings of picnic tables that have slatted wooden covers. It is adjacent to both parking lots 1, 2, and 3. There are several barbeques and it is a short walk down the hill from the shoreline. Furthermore, a large playground set is nearby. The Overlook can accommodate up to 250 people, and has plenty of open space, perfect for a large event, such as a catered meal, or a wedding overlooking the water. RENTAL COST: $325.00**
Timberland
The Timberland picnic area is the closest to the swim beaches. It has a large, plastic constructed play area and restroom building close by, making it perfect for groups with children. It is able to accommodate up to 150 people, and it located next to both parking lots 6 and 7. All of the picnic tables in this area are covered with a slatted, wooden cover, and the area has several barbeques as well.

Shady Acres
The Shady Acres Picnic Area is the largest reservable area. Located in the heart of the park, Shady Acres offers enough room for up to 500 people and their picnic games. Surrounded by several picnic shelters, the grass area is the perfect setting for a corporate picnic, or large family gathering.

Squirrel Hollow
Directly across a brand new playground, you can relax as your kids have fun within direct sight. A total of 9 picnic tables and 5 barbeques will ensure you have enough room for any moderate size party. If accessibility is a concern, this area is ideally located close to parking lots.

Ducks Delight
With 9 picnic tables, 4 barbeques, and plenty of room for fun, "Duck's Delight" is a perfect place to bird watch and enjoy the swim beach from a secluded area.

Angels Retreat
Just a short walk from parking lot 2, "Angels Retreat" offers a beautiful vista of Paradise Cove.
As of January 2008, a new playground just up the hill will give your little ones plenty to do! It includes 9 picnic tables, 1 outdoor sink and 4 barbeques.
